165 foot painting by Chinese artist Jizi. Click to see larger. I have had an interest in panoramic images for a long time. I have often seen Chinese scrolls as another form of panos. But this one blew me away. The brush and ink painting wraps around the whole gallery in the current exhibit at the Weisman Museum. In addition there is a room full of massive paintings. To top it off there is a wonderful video of the late Jizi talking about his work and the struggles Chinese artists faced during the Cultural Revolution. As Jizi himself says "it is no longer enough to paint the mountain. You must now paint the universe."
Up through the end of the year. I will be making multiple trips back. Here is more on the show:

In a recent press release the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha announced the acquisition of photographs from the collection of Bruce Berman and Lea Russo. Berman, a Hollywood producer and a longtime collector of my work gifted a number of my photographs to the museum. The 2003 photograph of the Wanimingo Town Hall was featured in the release.

What I did on my summer vacation: I made a timelapse video using GoPro cameras of Angle Inlet on Lake of the Woods along the Minnesota - Ontario border. The camera was placed on various parts of a boat dock and recorded from before sunrise to after sunset. I choose the GoPro over a DSLR due to the high humidity and heavy condensation in the evening. A 12 hour waterproof GoPro battery from PolarPro let me run the camera all day or all evening.

I was interviewed on KARE 11, the local Minneapolis St. Paul NBC affiliate TV station about iconic photographs—those images that represent an era. In particular I talked about the Baton Rouge photo of the protester being arrested that has gone viral.
