I was interviewed on KARE 11, the local Minneapolis St. Paul NBC affiliate TV station about iconic photographs—those images that represent an era. In particular I talked about the Baton Rouge photo of the protester being arrested that has gone viral. Here is the link to the news story online: Click Here to See the Video

Two Works in the Anderson Center Summer Exhibit / Celebration of the Arts
Tuesday, June 21, 2016, 11:08 PM
I have two works in the 17th Annual Summer Celebration of the Arts at the Anderson Center in Red Wing MN. The opening is July 9, 2016, 11 am to 5 pm with the exhibit up until fall.

The first is an image of the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array Radio Telescopes near Socorro New Mexico. The digital archival pigment print is 16X60.

The second image is of the Vermillion River looking toward Prairie Island in the Mississippi River. The photograph was taken less than two miles from the Anderson Center in the Canon River valley backwaters and floodplain. This print is also a 16X60 digital archival pigment print. Both prints were made on Hahnemuhle Baryta fiber based paper.

I have two new works in the Anderson Center Winter show. The show is up from today (Saturday December 5th 2015) until mid-January 2016. This is the 16th annual winter show and my 13th year in this group exhibit.

Mississippi River Backwaters, Winter 2014. Digital Pigment Print 16X60.

Taken just upriver from where the Mississippi splits into the main channel and the back (Wisconsin) channel around Trenton Island. It is north of downtown Red Wing approximately two miles.

US Canadian Border, Northwest Angle Minnesota 2015. Digital Pigment Print 16X60.

The line in the trees along the horizon on the center right is the Minnesota - Manitoba border. The end of the tree line and open water on the center left is the Minnesota - Ontario border. This was taken at the tri-point where the two provinces and Minnesota meet at the end of triangle. It is also the most northwestern point on Lake of the Woods and at the mouth of a small creek. Approximately a 180 degree view.

Experiments with the Lytro Camera
Monday, September 21, 2015, 10:42 PM
Lytro is a camera that allows you to change the focus AFTER you take a picture. Of course it is actually taking a series of images for each photograph you make. To see the Lytro in action you must post the images in their online gallery. Here are my first attempts at making use of the focus feature. Both photos were taken overlooking Lake Pepin from Lake City MN.

Here is another from the same location This one also has a perspective shift.

I should point out that I have a friend who likes to say (given all my photo toys) "You have WAY too much fun!" But than again he is in part responsible. He had an extra Lytro and gave it to me. He is right, but I would instead say "Photographers have WAY too much fun."

Enjoy!
